Papilio protenor, commonly known as the spangle swallowtail, is a large and elegant butterfly native to East Asia. Adults are velvety black with subtle iridescence and distinctive pale markings, giving the species a refined, dramatic appearance. The larvae feed on Rutaceae plants, including citrus, and develop through visually striking instars. Papilio protenor eggs are well suited for experienced and beginner breeders alike, offering the chance to raise a powerful and graceful swallowtail from egg to adult.

Host plants - Citrus; Choisya; Skimmia and related plants.
Conditions - Room temperature or slightly warmer.
Life-cycle - Capable of both continual broods and/or diapause, as conditions require.
