Phyllium tobeloense tobeloense “Galela”, commonly known as the Autumn Leaf Insect, is a spectacular large leaf insect renowned for its impressive size and highly variable colouration. Adults can develop beautiful shades of green, yellow, orange, reddish-brown and combinations in between, making each individual particularly striking.
A relatively straightforward species to rear once established, they feed readily on blackberry leaves, as well as several other suitable food plants. Their larger size means they require a spacious, tall enclosure with good ventilation and plenty of room for successful moulting.
Young nymphs require good humidity and fresh food, while adults are generally hardy and rewarding insects to keep.
