Owl Moth (Brahmaea wallichii) PUPAE

Brahmaea wallichii is perhaps the most striking of the Owl Moths. It has a beautiful, intricate wing pattern and colouration, in metallic shades of silver, gold, and black. We have received fresh breeding stock, some very large pupae which are expected to emerge in September/October when we will supply egg orders. Numbers are likely to be limited, so early ordering is highly recommended. 

The caterpillars are equally as spectacular as the adult moth, with colouration changing at every stage in shades of green, blue and gold. They become very large at maturity, easily over 10cm in length. Caterpillars do very well on host plants like Privet and Lilac, with Privet being especially useful for winter rearing as this species is continually brooded in most instances, though pupae can go into diapause when kept cool.

Lifecycle: Capable of both diapause and multiple broods per year.
