Actias aliena is a beautiful moon moth species native to Japan and the far east - one which we have not had for at least 5 or 6 years! Caring for this species is simple in all stages, essentially treat as you would Actias luna, with a wide variety of host plants accepted by their caterpillars which grow to be especially large and chunky. A very limited number of eggs will be available from the final brood, expected within a couple of weeks, so we recommend early ordering to avoid disappointment.
Host plants: Birch, Alder, Willow, Oak, Walnut, Sweetgum. Multiple others reported.
Difficulty: Easy (1/10)
Condition: Room temp.
Lifecycle: two or three broods annually; cocoons hibernate in autumn.
