Graellsia isabellae, commonly known as the Spanish moon moth, is a species of silkmoth in the family Saturniidae. Endemic to parts of Spain and southern France, this moth is celebrated for its stunning appearance, marked by delicate, translucent green wings adorned with intricate patterns. The species is named after Queen Isabella II of Spain, reflecting its regal beauty.

The moth inhabits mountainous regions, favoring pine forests where its primary host plant, Pinus sylvestris (Scots pine), is abundant. The caterpillars are strikingly green, with distinctive cream or white striped markings, and they feed exclusively on pine needles. The adults, emerging in late spring, are nocturnal and short-lived, with their sole purpose being reproduction, as they lack functional mouthparts and therefore do not feed.

Graellsia isabellae is of significant ecological and cultural importance. It is a flagship species for conservation, as its presence indicates the health of its pristine forest habitat. Reportedly, the species has been introduced to Switzerland where it now breeds in forest pine habitats similar to those of its endemic range. However, populations remain very vulnerable to threats such as habitat destruction, climate change, and pesticide use.
