This butterfly features a combination of bold colors, with vibrant yellow bodies and striking black, white and yellow markings. It exhibits sexual dimorphism, with females typically having broader wings than males - there are multiple female forms, whilst only one male form (black with metallic blue stripes). The caterpillars of this species feed on host plants from the citrus family, including: Citrus, Choisya, Skimmia, Rue, and multiple other related plants. The Great Yellow Mormon plays an essential role in pollination, aiding in the reproduction of various plants in its habitat. Its sheer size and striking appearance make it a sought-after species among butterfly enthusiasts and a significant contributor to the biodiversity of Southeast Asian ecosystems.
