Pseudobunaea irius, also known as the Iris Emperor Moth, is a species of Giant Silk Moth found in Africa. The species is native to various countries in Africa, this particular stock is F1 ex Cameroon. The wings are typically reddish-brown with prominent eye-shaped markings that resemble the iris of an eye, hence its common name. The larvae (caterpillars) feed on the leaves of various plants, including: Oak, Sweetgum, Eucalyptus, Robinia, and probably others not yet tried. These are not challenging to rear. Caterpillars become very large!
