Hyalophora gloveri, referred to as Glover's Silk Moth, is a large silk moth species native to western North America, including parts of the United States and Canada. These moths are renowned for their impressive size, with wingspans that can exceed 15cm. Glover's Silk Moths display stunning wing patterns characterized by a combination of silver, burgundy, and white colors, with intricate markings. Like many silk moths, they are primarily nocturnal, attracted to artificial lights during their brief adult lifespan. Breeding is easily achieved, however caterpillars are a challenge and prone to disease. Their caterpillars typically feed on various deciduous trees, including: Willow, Cherry, Alder, Birch, and others. Cocoons overwinter and emerge the following year in late spring or early summer.
