SUMMER: Citheronia splendens EGGS

from £12.50

The Splendid Regal Moth is native to the southern United States and south into Central America. It belongs to the family Saturniidae, which includes some of the largest and most colorful moths. These moths can be quite large, with a wingspan of up to 15cm, and extremely striking patterns. The caterpillars are arguably even more spectacular, growing to more than 12cm in length with large horns on its head and spines down its back. These are easy to rear despite their exotic look, and feed on host plants such as: Sumac, Sweetgum, Ash, Oak, and several others are reported. The pupae overwinter and emerge the following summer. Breeding is not difficult either.
