SUMMER: Actias sinensis EGGS

Actias sinensis, known as the Golden moon moth, is a remarkable species of silkmoth moth found in China and other parts of East Asia. This moth is relatively small but with beautiful patterns and colours which are sexually dimorphic - the males are golden-yellow, while females are a pale blue-green. Characteristically for the Moon Moth family, sinensis has elegant tails on the gindwings. Its caterpillars are equally interesting, naturally feeding on Formosan Gum (Liquidambar formosana). In captivity, Sweet Gum (Liquidambar styraciflua) and Eucalytpus are excellent host plants. Others have also been reported by I have not personally used them. This species, like other Saturniidae moths, is a subject of fascination for entomologists and a source of aesthetic delight for nature enthusiasts.
