MAY/JUN: Puss Moth PUPAE

from £8.50

The Puss Moth is a fairly small moth native to Europe, with a wingspan of 5.5-7.5cm. The moths typically emerge in April or May when the tree buds begin to open. Caterpillars are very easy to rear and become large, and rather spectacular. Host plants include: Willow, Birch, Poplar, Cherry, Oak, Hawthorn and multiple others, no doubt. The caterpillars produce a very tough cocoon formed from tree bark, where they spend the winter.
