The American Bullseye Moth, is a stunning North American silk moth renowned for its intricate and vibrant eye spots. Its wingspan typically ranges from 5-10cm, with females being larger and darker in colour. However, the caterpillar of the Io Moth also garners attention with its bright green body adorned with clusters of venomous spines, which can cause skin irritation upon contact. These caterpillars feed on a wide variety of host plants, including: Oak, Willow, Birch, Maple, and a multitude of others. They are very easy to rear, but are better observed rather than handled due to the stinging spines!
