Argema mimosae, commonly known as the African Moon Moth, is a spectacular and large silk moth found in the forests of southern and eastern Africa. Its wingspan can reach up to 20 centimeters, making it one of the largest moths in the world. The moth exhibits striking colors, featuring shades of green and yellow, with intricate eye-like markings on its wings and long elegant tails. Their caterpillars feed on a variety of host plants, including Eugenia and Acacia species. In captivity, the best host plants are: Sweetgum, Smokebush, and Eucalyptus. Cocoons are very easy to hatch out at home, treat as any other silkmoth species and mist daily.
