The Small Tortoiseshell butterfly is another vibrant butterfly species found in Europe and parts of Asia. Known for its intricate orange, black, and yellow wing patterns, similar to the markings on a tortoise shell, this butterfly is easily recognizable. It is a hardy and adaptable species, often seen in gardens, parks, and urban areas feeding on the flowers of Buddleia. This butterfly has also faced massive population declines, particularly with longer, drier summers - their host and nectar plants die back early due to this. See care guides for breeding and rearing information.
